Oriflame - ombré lips

Oriflame is a bit like the Avon catalogue except it's Swedish so isn't massive over here yet.

Basically they sell an entire own brand make up and beauty range.

I was google image searching "ombré lips" when I came across their triple core lipstick. A lipstick containing 3 colours in one to give a very subtle (or bold depending on shade) ombré look.

I went for the pink as I wanted a subtle everyday look. If you look you can see the darker shade around the edges fading to the light in the centre.

I think I'd deffo be interested in trying a bolder shade too next time. Ombré lips - thumbs up.

Enrapture hair styling

I first heard of Enrapture last Christmas when I was looking for a decent set of heated rollers. A set would normally set you back around £70 but they were on offer on amazon for about £35; plus who cares, I wasn't buying.

They are the best heated rollers I've ever tried. They heat up in about 2 minutes. Both the roller itself and the clip which secures it are heated so the curl lasts much longer. I normally get up, lash them in first thing in the morning and let them cool while I'm getting ready and then voila, instant curly blow.

That's actually me. Excuse the ham arm it was pre gym.

I decided to try their jumbo waver as I have a little bit of an obsession with "Game of Thrones" hair. I'm sorry but in medieval times there's no way that was people's natural hair. If I let mine dry naturally or even plait it, it's just a frizzy mess. They deffo had one of these.

It's basically a giant crimper. There's a heat dial to control the heat but I just think low heats are for meffs so I turned it up to 11 (This is Spinal Tap reference for the film geeks). Considering my hair is 22" (it's all my own, I bought it) it only took about 20-30 mins to style my whole head. Unfortunately as I'm single now I couldn't get an immediate picture in good light of the results so here's one in poor light which my drunk mate took much later on. Bear in mind I'd been out about 12hrs at this point.

It did look proper gorge like and that's been brushed through a few times so you can see how it held the wave. And I wasn't far off!

Another boss product from Enrapture. They also have an award winning totem styling wand which is deffo on my list to try next!

Bean bag bazaar

The weather lately has been fantastic for catching a bronzey so I decided to "make hay while the sun shines" and get myself out in the garden on the reggers.
The only trouble is I've got one of those decking chair things an its not in the slightest bit comfy, all buttons diggin into me and an ordeal every time I wanted to roll over to tan me back.
I started researching alternative solutions!

I found these mazzy outdoor beanbags on bean bag bazaar website and knew it was just the solution I'd been looking for.

That's not me by the way.

I ordered a fetching purple one (around the £60 mark) an it was delivered in like 4 days so I was well happy.

The beanbag came half filled and with an extra bag of stuffing to plump it up. On the directions it said filling it up without having a a bean ball massacre was a 2 person job. 2 people? Wow rub it in that I'm newly single why don't you? All my women who independent throw your hands up at me and attempt this alone.

Inevitably it resulted in a bean ball massacre. Top Scouse bird tip, if you haven't got a mate or fella to hand hire an escort for an hour. Get him to mow the grass with his top off while you're there.

In the end I stuffed the entire refill bag inside the hole (not easy) and pulled out the giant net condom slowly. Voila.

A quick run round with the dyson and the world was good again. Even if I now have a dyson branded snow shaker.

The material is like a tent sort of or thick mac which I suppose is because its an outdoor beanbag. Weatherproof I'm guessing.

It's deffo more comfortable than a recliner. Overall, yes I would recommend.

Pros: comfy
Cons: self assembly is arlarse on single people

Kiehls skincare

I've never really been one for a skincare routine, taking make up off before bed is for grasses I thought. Ain't nobody got time fo dat. However now that I'm officially on the wrong side of 25 (and have been for a couple of years) I thought its high time I get my act together. I've been getting better and better, using my home & bargain baby wipes and my loreal moisturiser but with my recent birthday I thought its high time I graduate to the big leagues. I headed to John Lewis beauty department, I'm so at home with the make up but skincare? So alien and intimidating. I finally stumbled upon the Kiehls stand, it looked so organic and home grown and a lovely lady called Natalie was very helpful.
She asked me about my skin issues (none really, I'm a lucky bitch like that) and recommended a few products. Apparently Cameron Diaz, J-Lo and the almighty Oprah swear by Kiehls. This was sounding good. I stocked up on a few products and here's what I think of them having trialled them for a few weeks.

The midnight rescue oil is amazing. You put a few drops on before bed and your skin feels glorious when you wake up. Recommended.

The acai berry cleanser is the one Cameron Diaz swears by for her acne. I wasn't a fan just because I can't really get on board with foam cleansers. I prefer creams/milks (try the cleanser made by @scousehoney on twitter it's fab). I gave it to my boyfriend though as he has occasional breakouts and he loves it.

The tinted moisturiser which is also supposed to correct skin tone I haven't really given a fair go to yet. You can use it under your foundation but I'm saving it for when I go on holiday. It's got built in SPF.

The overnight peel is amazing. It's like a microdermabrasion/chemical peel in a bottle, you use it once a week overnight and it removes all the dull dead skin from your face.

The pore reducing amazonian clay mask I LOVE. I use it once a week in the bath and it feels like I'm having a spa treatment. It goes hard. I must say after a few weeks I am definitely happier with the appearance of my pores on my nose and cheeks. I've noticed a real difference when applying make up.

Finally last but not least the rare flower moisturiser. I use the oil at night and this in the morning. It smells divine. It's not watery or dead thick like Nivea (which although is my mums favourite, to me it feels like I've lashed a load of oily sudocrem on my face), it's got a midway consistency which is perfect for me. It's the ideal skin hydration before applying your face.

I also got an eye brightening cream and a fine line filler but I've not really used them yet, still taking baby steps on the skincare routine. My next mission which Natalie made me promise to do was to go in for a facial so they can talk to me more in depth about my skin needs. I WILL! If you need any advice about your skin at all go in and see them in John Lewis in town (Liverpool city centre for the non-scousers). May your pores be ever shrinking!

Microring hair by Deena

Its been a full 6 weeks now since I ditched the weave an went Microring with my stennies. A part of me was sick of wefts an that chunky feelin in your head, the other part was just curious an wanted what all the celebs were gettin.

I heard mixed reviews beforehand, that they go all matted, they constantly fall out an worse still, they rip your hair out. I don't like the stress weft plaits put on your scalp and I've had the glued bonds which actually do rip your hair out so I was hoping Microrings really were the damage free, pain free extension solution they were claiming to be.

I found them to be fabulous. The fitting took about 2hrs (and I've just had my maintenance which took no more than an hour) and was a 100% pain free experience. There were no chunky plaits, and no extension headaches, yesss. Deena said to expect maybe 1 strand to fall out each week but not a single one fell out. For the first week you're not allowed to put your hair up (to prevent traction apparently....whatever that is), I waited until week 2 to tie it up in a bun and ill be honest, it itched like hell on earth, I wanted to rip my head off. All the little ends of the hair were prickling against my scalp and irritating it. I waited another week before tying my hair in a high style and I was absolutely fine. I asked Deena about this at maintenance and she said Benadryl works an absolute dream for the dreaded extension itch.
She had warned that matting could occur so I had to make sure I regularly brushed it with the special looped extension brush she supplies. I did and again there was absolutely no matting whatsoever.
All the horror stories had been completely unfounded (as long as you care for it right).

Extension care: You get them maintained (moved) about every 6 weeks but Deena said she's had clients leave it longer. I felt I could have gone longer, it's not like with a weave where it feels scummy when it grows out.
A special shampoo & conditioner containing no sulphates is advised to keep quality of actual hair.
Extension looped brush is a must!
Deena can supply all of these.

My hair cost: £399

Wow brows aka tattooed eyebrows

A good set of eyebrows are really one of the defining features of a Scouse bird. The difference a well defined, manicured brow can make to your face is genuinely unbelievable.
A lot of Scouse bird problems stem from eyebrows in general, are they wonky? Have they smudged? Have they sweated off? Are they in general a fuckin show? So naturally I'd been considering a more permanent solution; tattooed brows. It's not a decision I entered into lightly, after all if they get TATTOOED on wonky or a show you're stuck with them for about 5 years. No one needs that hassle.
I'd looked through pictures of several different salons, had HD brows done a couple of times to experiment with what I liked & didn't like and ummed and ahhhed for a long time about whether I wanted feathered or block effect.
The end result was that although feathered brows look extremely natural, on a daily basis I colour block my brows in anyway so really, would I be any better off getting feathered ones than I am now? No.
Researching different salons and looking at examples of their work I finally narrowed it down to only 2 places I would even consider. I ended up going with Blushious (now renamed Malinki). I'd spoken to Hayley a few times after going for the shrinking violet body wraps so we'd had a few chats about shape and colour until I was happy. Sophie who'd been doing my HD brows now works there too and her seal of approval went a long way!
The day finally arrived (after a successful behind the ear patch test) and Hayley spent a good 30 mins measuring and pencilling on my would be new brow shape to ensure I was happy. Turns out my brows were naturally wonky (who knew) so she even raised my right brow slightly (I've got so much more room for smokey eyes now!). I was alarmed at first by how big the outline looked but she explained she'd be tattooing within these outlines not actually on them - PHEW - panic over! She administered numbing cream and let it soak in and work for about half an hour. Then it was crunch time.
The first pass where the skin was first broken is the worst bit, after that the numbing cream can get deeper down. The right side hurt more than the left (she said its something to do with pain receptors in the brain) but neither side was horrific and after the first pass I couldn't really feel anything anyway. She used circular motions with the needle to give the brows more of a powdered effect so they wouldn't be as severe as fully blocked brows. The actual tattooing took about 40 mins.
Afterwards she gave me leaflets to take away and fully explained all the aftercare then booked me in for a 6 week top up/check.
They looked AMAZING. For about 24-48hrs after I did feel like I had really bad sunburn on my eyebrows like but after that I was fine. It's taken about a week for them to heal properly. Honestly I'm so happy I made the decision to have them done, they are amazing. Even going to the gym make up free isn't traumatic anymore, and waking up in the morning sans make up doesn't knock me as violently ill when I catch a glimpse of my reflection. They are fantastic. My mum and my bezzie mate are already signed up to get theirs done after seeing mine.

She's got an offer on til the end of June to do the Wow brows for £199 after that they go back up to £350 xx

RIVER ISLAND COMPETITION!

Like most Scouse girls I've taken the closure of River Island pretty hard. There is finally light at the end of the tunnel with the re-opening date finally being confirmed for 15th June. By the way has anyone walked past it in town yet?? It looks absolutely massive! I. can't. wait.
In order to go some way to apologise for the severe RI drought in recent months the lovely people at River Island contacted me and asked if I'd like to run a competition for one lucky person to win a £200 shopping spree in store. Well! It's the bloody least you can do! Don't you know the pain of looking for the perfect dress and your favourite shop has just got off??

So basically in order to be in with a chance of winning this fab prize you have to tweet about why you love River Island and you MUST use the hashtag #RILiverpool (That's how they'll find your tweets). [If you're on Facebook just share and comment on the picture I posted with why you love River Island in less than 20 words]

Shrinking Violet from Blushious

Loads of people have been asking me about the Shrinking Violet body wrap so here's my review...

Like any girl I'm searching for the miracle weight loss cure (cue all the gym bores goin: Eat clean, train dirty. Be assed. No). Last year before I went on holiday I had sonic lipo from some snide salon in Aintree off a groupon. The woman blatantly measured me loosely before the treatment then tightly afterwards an was like "Oh you've lost 5 inches" Like fuck I had. I never went back for the rest of my treatments - her raging halitosis was probably a huge factor in that. Despite the overwhelming evidence that she was a charlatan and i had wasted my money I still wanted to believe, but the death breath was the final nail in the coffin.

Anyway to the shrinking violet! The girl who does my HD brows (Browtique) moved to Blushious salon and they told me all about this new body wrap "Shrinking Violet" - sign me up.

I had my first treatment last week and she marked off the exact points where she measured me, so no cheating! She then rubbed me down with the SV oil and wrapped me in cling film. I was feeling all vulnerable and naked in just a thong but she put me at ease. Nothin like havin a naked goss.

The hour flew by and I genuinely did lose 7 inches - most importantly 3/4 inch off each ham arm! Bye bye ham arms! Can't wait to complete my course.

So yes, I would recommend. Follow @blushious_spmu on twitter for details, they're one of the only places in Liverpool to offer it.

B CLINICS - RODNEY STREET

Due to the stress of having to deal with idiots on a daily basis I developed frown lines and forehead wrinkles from the age of 21. I’d been dying to get Botox but like a lot of people I was priced out, plus I had people saying at 26 I was too young. Well for a start I already had more wrinkles than I was willing to deal with and I didn’t want any more - prevention is better than cure! I first went to Lee in B clinics a couple of years ago from a Groupon deal of all things - the deal was good but when I went I found his prices were lower than others anyway. Lee is a fantastic guy to sit and chat with, he makes you feel so at ease that it’s like going to visit a friend rather than a doctor. He explained that he was one of the first doctors in the country to start doing Botox, so experience wise I trust him implicitly with my visage. The last thing I want is to end up with a wonky face from going to visit some back street beautician who’s syringe happy! I couldn’t be any happier with my treatment, I used to spend hours in the mirror looking at my developing wrinkles, obsessing over them - now they don’t even enter my mind. My facial expressions haven’t been affected, they’re still natural rather than frozen (i.e. I can still snarl me head off). No one would ever know I’d had Botox except for the fact I’m really open about it. If you’re thinking about getting Botox there is no one else I would recommend.
